The River

River water

Flowing

Over stones

Smooth from years of washing

Speckled gold, amber, pink

Tearing soil

Exposing roots

Along the banks

Piling brush

Creating dams

Never stopping

Never starting

Sustaining life

Taking life

Without thanks

Without end
